Saturday morning I woke up my husband with a hot cup of coffee and told him to get dressed, pack his bag and get in the car.

I had organised my sister to babysit the kids and planned to take him on a surprise trip to the sunny Hawkes Bay in New Zealand. The last time we went away on a romantic trip was before we had kids: over seven years ago!

I had organised a couples photoshoot with Danelle from Danelle Kendrick Photography  we met on a gorgeous beach north of Napier and she completely blew us away with her talent behind the lens.

Because I love taking photos, we have PLENTY of the kids but none of Ben and I together so it was so exciting to be able to have this moment with just us two.

Danelle was the perfect person to snap our personal photos: she was friendly, extremely lovely and made us feel very relaxed. We felt as if it were just us two sharing a quiet moment together which made for beautifully natural photos that we will cherish forever.

The rest of the weekend consisted of far too much good food and wine and a bed with no little people taking all of the room. It was relaxing and the perfect mini getaway… we must do it again soon!

If you’re in the Hawkes Bay, you neeeeed her as your photographer; she does a bloody amazing job of wedding photography too! Or do what we did and make it a romantic weekend away – 100% worth it.

….plus, she knows where a HUGE patch of cacti is! SWOOOON. (See the last couple of snaps)

You will find her here:

*post not sponsored – just one very very very happy mama with beautiful photos worth sharing.
